Part 4 - The Bunny Hoppers (cont.)
I caught up with them Friday before the event. They were repairing their suits, and finishing a 3rd suit that wasn't complete. They also made a 4th pair of ears while watching Terry Gilliam's Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas the gonzo bio-pic based on the Hunter S. Thomson book of the same name and the movie Fight Club. Dak's suit was the prototype. The Alpha version. Joes was the Beta. P'bunny's was the Release Candidate. Made in half the time thursday afternoon. It was a lighter color and the belly and the insides of the ears were a friendly pink instead of the dingy white that Joe & Dak chose for their suits. Apparently the 3 of them went out the night before. This time they brought a fourth in plain-clothes to document the adventure. His wouldn't reveal his name but he held the camera and did the driving. I'll just call him H. "When I showed up, they were working on P'bunny's suit," H started, "It was missing it's belly. They invited me to come along and offered me some ears bought at some Easter clearance sale." He couldn't look me directly in the eyes. Mostly because he's about a foot taller than me. He seemed uncomfortable telling the story. but he continued. "I kept the ears with me, but I left them in the car. "The first place we visited was this taco truck near Blue Chips. It was just down the street from Mr.T's in Highland Park. They were hungry. Dak was already drinking buds from before we left. Joe & P'bunny seemed sober. But that didn't last for long. We went to Mr.T's Bowl to leave some flyers, but apparently word was already out. There were some signs printed out and a dry erase board was up promoting the event. Work was done. We headed out to the Wild Hare on York (also in Highland Park.) Apparently the Wild Hare was supposed to be a stop on the route. But I'm guessing they didn't have the wheels to do it. They were quickly apologizing to the waitress behind the bar. But the rabbits continued with their mission. To promote the event. They handed out flyers. Drank a few drinks. Hugged a few girls and then we left. ... to be continued
